International Edition: Showdown at Pewter City

"Ever wonder why Brock decided to leave his family to help out Ash? Wonder no longer.

After his defeat at Onix's hand, Ash and Misty are given room for the night at Brocks house, who catches them watching him feed his brothers and sisters (his father takes off before he can see him).

Coming in to see if Ash is all right before bed, he finds the young boy in tears, as it all comes flooding in to him that he's alone in a strange place away from his mother and that's he's already been defeated by the first Gym Leader he's met.

Brock - a Mother at heart - moves to comfort him, hugging Ash and telling him it'll be all right. Ash hugs him back, but a second later finds himself kissing Brock, who recoils in shock and quickly backs out of the bed.

Ash apologises profusely, saying he's tired and sad and didn't know what he was doing. Brock just backs out, arms up in a warding gesture, saying it's all right while the familiar sweat drop forms at the back of his head.

Ash then rushes out through a window in rage and sadness before encountering Brock's father, who teaches him how to abuse his Pikachu into becoming stronger.

Brock, obviously worried about Ash's obvious distress and confusion and not wanting him to be out alone in the big bad world, filled with predators like Team Rocket, goes after Ash and Misty and offers to join them."
